The girlfriend of the suspected killer of slain Benue online vendor, Joy Onoh Ogochuckwu, has cried out to the family of the victim that Joy’s ghost has been tormenting her.
The lady who gave her name as Martha confessed that her boyfriend, Matthew, strangled the late vendor in her room after inviting Joy to deliver some clothes.
In a recorded telephone conversation released by a family member of the late Joy, Martha stated that she wasn’t around when her boyfriend committed the heinous crime.
She claimed she was in the market when the gruesome act was meted out and that when she got home, her boyfriend had already killed Joy.
Martha stated that Mathew gave her Joy’s phone and bag which contained some money as well as the clothes she had come to sell and asked her to run to the village.
“My boyfriend invited her to come and sell clothes in Federal Housing 1st Gate (North Bank Makurdi) so he now strangled her, collected her bag and her phone, and gave me her money that I should travel with it. I should go far. But, I’m scared, the spirit is tormenting me,” Martha lamented.
She also said she has been calling Matthew but his number was not connecting adding that she later heard he has been arrested.
Recall that Joy Onoh Ogochukwu, 24, graduate of the Department of Mass Communication, Benue State University, Makurdi, was on Tuesday night lured and allegedly raped to death by a supposed client who asked her to deliver some clothes.
She was awaiting call up from the National Youth Service Corps before her unfortunate murder.
Two suspects have since been arrested in connection to the killing of Joy Onoh Ogochukwu.
According to a police source the suspects will be charged to court today, Monday 25th October, 2021.
