Abia State University Loses Three Lecturers Same Day

Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, lost three lecturers to cold hands of death on the same day.

The deceased lecturers are identified as Prof. A. I. Nwabughuogu of History/International Relations Department, Dr D. S. Okoroigwe of Geography/Planning Department, and a third lecturer from the Department of Political Science.

A source attributes the death of the lecturers who died on Friday, September 3 to economic hardships.

The source added:

“We are being owed more than seven months’ salaries; the last time (we were paid) was January 2021.”

The demise of the lecturers was confirmed by the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Abia State University, Dr Victor Nkemdirim.

The chairman of the union describe the situation as unfortunate.
